About
Neftis
My name is Mychelle-Anne. I am a French-Canadian woman, currently living in Sweden with my family. My on line pseudonym, 'Neftis', I got from my little siamese cat.
The things that I love the most in life is the natural beauty of things, and the brilliant colours of nature. A born artist, I love to paint and to sculpt. Drawing is one of my greatest passions and it is from my father that I have received this amazing talent. I remember rummaging
through a box of memories and souvenirs of my mother, and seeing the portraits that he had drawn of her. I was so envious his great skill! And I always will be...
Dad, I love you!
How did you get started in 3D art?
I started in 3D purely by accident. Before my 3D discovery, I was actually into video. I loved to do the film editing. I already held an active interest in computers when one lucky day I was offered an Amiga 2000, onto which I then installed a Video Toaster card from Newtek ( a very popular hardware editing program at that time).
It had, included on it, a software called Lightwave 3D. I didn't have a clue what the program was about, or what it did, and my curiosity transported me to a magical world where your passion to believe and create, could take you any where...
A passion, yes, but also an obsession! I spent entire days and nights experimenting; creating little animations and I even managed some modelled objects. I was a veritable zombie back then, but I think you all know what I am talking about. :)
Times changed, and the programs evolved... One day, completely by accident while I was visiting a friend at their home, I got the opportunity to try out a new prog. It was Poser 4! At that very moment, I knew that my views on 3D artistry would never be the same again! It was then that I began familiarising myself with the UV Mappings and the texturing of the Poser world.
And that is how I started my infinitely exhilarating journey through the 3D Art Universe.
What software do you use and why?
I mostly use the Lightwave Modeler to create my objects; UV Mapper, PhotoImpact, as well as Photoshop for texturing, and, of course, Poser for the final product.
Any advice for getting started in selling 3D work?
I believe that when beginning to sell your creations, you should specialise in what you enjoy making the most. For some that is textures, for others it's modelling. It's good to experiment and find what comes naturally to you.
Remember, fixing problems with your products makes them into great objects, and it is a very important part of the creation process.
Where do you find inspiration for your products?
I get my inspiration primarily from my family, my friends, and my surroundings. Everywhere, there is a little Muse hiding and waiting for you to simply notice something that could jumpstart your artistic creativity. All you have to do is find it.
How has this online 3D community enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?
The Poser community is a marvellous place that has allowed me to change and evolve in and alongside of my work. And it is due to all of the amazing support of all of my friends from the 3d forums that I am even here today. The friendships that I have made in the 3d world have lasted through many
experiences, and they get stronger and more precious everyday. And all of that, I owe to my personal 'community' of friends and Muses:- Catharina, Sacred Rose, Brightskies, DigiCalimero - I owe you all an enormous amount. You are all veritable treasures to me!
Other artists that I respect and admire just as much, and whose friendship is just as important to me; artists like Syyd, Dalinise, gebe, StefyZZ - you are all great sources of inspiration!
Thank you to all of the artists from the Poser world ; your willingness to share your feelings and emotions, your points of view in things, even your humour at times - it all contributes to making up the diverse world that is this community - one of the most influential places in the published 3D Artistry Universe.
BRAVO and Congratulations on a job well done.
Fondest regards, and hugs and kisses to everyone from Sweden!
